Bush Man EP
A 4 track broken beat ep (21m 59s) — released February 1st 2007 on Broadcite Productions
'The traditional African bushman used hand-crafted bow and arrows made from wood, hair, hide and metal compound when hunting down their food. Each bushman's bow and arrow was an original piece of art, individually hand-crafted; no two were exactly alike which added to the value of each bushman's bow and arrow. This is an analogy of today's dance music scene...' [Tempo]
Tempo is the pseudonym for Broadcite's very own MC and producer, TRoy. Constantly moving in different musical directions to avoid having his sound pigeonholed, Tempo now hits us hard with his 'Bushman' project.
The 4-track Bushman EP treats your ears to distinct deconstructed loops and raw unquantized beat patterns to take you away from the formulaic 4/4 sound found in so many of today's productions. This mix of real live instrumentation and programmed electronic sounds was all recorded in the smokey Broadcite laboratory along with the talents of some of London's creative musicians and prolific vocalists, including Heidi Vogel, who all joined forces to give rise to this EP. The project's organic processes result in natural vibes and a raw essence - most obvious in the tracks 'Green Concrete' and 'Something Simple'.
As Tempo takes us slowly through the pleasures of the original afro rhythm and beat on side A, the B-side takes a cultural twist and you'll find yourself being led deeper into the dense African bush where the ceremony of voodoo takes place…As well as some straight-up congo-natty experimentation, 'Move To The Light' fuses the sounds of afro beats and acid house with a calm, soothing outro as the ceremony comes to an end.
Although Tempo openly aspires for commercial success, his studio productions offer substance and a spiritual message that floats within the sublime frequencies that have become his trademark.
This EP is just one of the various top-quality releases from the Broadcite label - expect to hear much more goodness coming from the Broadcite camp in 2007!

We love all the tracks presented, pure quality but the killer joint is 'Something Simple'. It's a deep EP but you really need to check this tune as it's a total journey and their best yet!

Broken beats has been a little quite out of West London recently but looks
like it's all ready to go off in 2007. Tempo/Broadcite continue where they
left off with 4 more excellent tracks. Playlisted 11-12-06 & charted no.6.
Migrations 2006-12-19 + December chart

Jon Freer - Acid jazz reviews
Ms. Heidi Vogel joins Tempo aka TRoy for a couple of stylish broken escapades. "Little Better" simply shimmers, courtesy of relaxed keys, smart beats and disgruntled, whilst a Claussell type live bassline and gleaming keys give strength to "Green Concrete".
